The Company

The Tivoli Dance Troupe is a Non-Profit Organization.  It is located at Industrial Terrace, Kingston 14, Jamaica. The troupe is a cultural Ambassador in the field of dance and was founded in 1979.

The genesis of the Tivoli Dance Troupe is credited by past principal of Tivoli High School, Mrs J. Grant-Woodham. As the principal of a new secondary school she knew that offering dance as an extra-curricular activity that would help to promote self-awareness among the members of the group and also provide an avenue for self-expression. As the administrative responsibilities increased, the rein of the troupe was handed over to the young but extremely talented protégé, Mrs Jennifer Morgan-Garwood to stand at the helm of the ship that was success bound.

Mrs Garwood transitioned the troupe over plateaus and mountains of success and now passed on the gift to the current Artistic Director and Chief Choreographer Ms Roberta Daley.  Ms Daley with the help of  Annette Denniser, Veronica Sewell-Morgan andKaren Lynford formed the administrative arm of the organization and have been the backbone to the troupe's success.

Dance plays a very important role in the lives of Jamaican youths. As a pre-eminent community dance group, they have won the most gold medals in the annual Jamaica Dance Festival than any other community group, and have been so good at what they do that they are able to stage their own recital, successfully each year.
